I am a PhD Candidate in Information Systems at UMBC, Baltimore Maryland, with projection to complete studies in Fall 2009.

My dissertation explores group cognition theories to further the understanding of collaborative computing in the healthcare environment. The theoretical contribution will be the development of improved models of communication and knowledge transfer among medical staff and information systems, and the practical contribution shall be innovative techniques for user requirements gathering and systems design of future medical information systems.

Masters Research thesis:

Ecological Interface Design (EID) in Aviation Domains: Work Doman Analysis (WDA) of Automated Collision Detection and Avoidance to Improve Automated TCAS II Alerts.

Investigated the application of EID and WDA to:

  • determine how WDA can be used to model the aircraft collision domain
  • determine how EID can contribute to the development of traffic detection interfaces
  • measure the affect of EID-enhanced displays on pilot trust in the TCAS II system

An updated version of the TCAS plug-in for MS Flight Simulator is now on the web!!
